T.i.D. (Time is Divine)

Not sure what is in the water over there, but here is yet another very talented band out of Sweden. T.i.D. is comprised of Claudio Marino (vocals), Martin Persner (guitar), Simon Söderberg (guitar), Arvid Persner (drums) and Björn Nilsson (bass). The band has been around for some time. Their Eps, ‘Bortom Inom,’ released in 2007, and ‘Giv Akt,’ in 2010) are both available to download (links provided below).

I honestly have a hard time putting into words how impressive this band is. Not only in their ability to play their instruments to perfection, but also in writing the music. The music flows so well, guitars are paired perfectly with powerful riffs and impeccable leads. Simon and Martin are masters at their craft. Bass lines are played by Bjorn with smooth and pristine technique, keeping a solid and strong rhythm. The drums are intense! Arvid has complete control over each stroke of cymbal or drum, whether he uses a medium stroke, or a lighter subtle stroke, but absolutely thunderous when he hits those drums at full power. Claudio has a very fascinating voice. His screams are very gritty, guttural and gut-wrenching. I can almost picture him screaming with veins bulging on the sides of his neck. His sound is very unique. While the music is metal, I’m going to dare say that at times, the guitars are rather melodic, which only makes the music more interesting. The band adds in snippets of audio from speeches or even movies, or sometimes there are some additional screams in there besides those from Claudio. They are definitely artists and they weave their art into their music. Each song is unique in and of itself. There is no specific theme or concept to the flow of each album or song.

Since the EPs only consist of a total of 9 songs, I am listing my Five Ground Shakers between both albums combined. Have a listen for yourselves.
